Erbium Oxide Applications:
Erbium oxide is mainly used as an additive for yttrium iron garnet and as a control material for nuclear reactors (flammable neutron poison). It is also used in the manufacture of special luminescent glass and glass that absorbs infrared radiation and as a glass coloring agent. In addition, it is also used as an activator for fluorescent powders and a catalyst for petrochemicals. In the glass industry, adding erbium oxide not only gives the glass a rose-red color but also effectively eliminates the yellow color caused by trivalent iron ions.
In the medical field, erbium lasers are used for non-invasive treatment in dermatology and dentistry. In the field of optical communication, it is a key material for erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. In the semiconductor industry, its high dielectric constant and wide bandgap characteristics make it suitable for use as a gate dielectric. Nano erbium oxide can also be used for biological imaging after modification.
