Introduction
Biimidazole can be used as both a hydrogen bond acceptor and a hydrogen bond donor. Therefore, it can form various forms of hydrogen bonds and is a good object for studying hydrogen bond assembly. Biimidazole is a multi-proton-donating ligand and can exist with transition metals in the form of neutral H₂biim molecules, dehydrogenated ions Hbiim⁻ and Biim²⁻ ions. In addition, biimidazole can also be used to prepare a biimidazole organophosphine compound. Biimidazole organophosphine and its derivative compounds can form coordination compounds with transition metals and lanthanide metals and can be used in organic catalysis, rare earth metal ion extraction and separation and other application fields.
