Introduction
2-Ethoxyethyl methacrylate (CAS 2370-63-0) is an organic compound with the molecular formula C₈H₁₄O₃, with a molecular weight of approximately 158.19. It appears as a colourless, transparent liquid, with a density of approximately 0.964 g/mL (25°C), a boiling point of 91–93°C (35 mmHg), a flash point of 161°F, and a refractive index of n₂₀/D 1.429. It is typically produced from methyl methacrylate and ethoxyethyl alcohol via a reaction, distillation and ester exchange process in the presence of a catalyst and a polymerisation inhibitor. It is photosensitive; a stabiliser, MEHQ (methoxyhydroquinone, content 85–115 ppm), is usually added to improve storage stability. It is recommended to store it in a cool, well-ventilated place away from light and away from sources of ignition.
