Introduction
2-(Methacryloyloxy)ethyl acetoacetate is a methylene-active compound. It can be used as a polymerisable chelating agent and polymerisation monomer for metal alkoxides.

Application
2-(Methacryloyloxy)ethyl acetoacetate can be used to synthesise high-solid-liquid acrylic resins and low VOC acrylic emulsions for industrial and architectural coatings. It can also be used for crosslinking with metal ions and for the production of acetoacetate polymers for colourfast fibres (azo dyes). AAEM can be easily polymerised with acrylic and methacrylic monomers.
