Introduction

Dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (CAS 27176-87-0) is an organic compound. It is a pale yellow to brown viscous liquid that is soluble in water; when diluted with water, it exudes heat. It is slightly soluble in benzene and xylene, and readily soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, propanol, and diethyl ether. It possesses emulsifying, dispersing, and cleaning properties.

Dodecylbenzenesulphonic acid  is used as a detergent raw material to produce sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS). LAS has the properties of cleaning, wetting, foaming, emulsifying, and dispersing, and its biodegradability is greater than 90%.
