Introduction

1-Chloro-2-methylpropane is a colorless transparent liquid with a boiling point of 68°C, a flash point of -10°C (closed cup), a melting point of -131°C, a density of 0.883 g/mL (25°C), and a refractive index of 1.398 (20°C). It is insoluble in water and miscible with ethanol and ether.

1-Chloro-2-methylpropane is an important raw material for organic synthesis. Because the chlorine atom in its structure is very active, it can react with aromatic amines and fatty amines to remove hydrogen chloride to generate the corresponding amines. Therefore, it can be used as a catalyst component for propylene polymerization, organic synthesis, and as a solvent, as a pharmaceutical raw material, plasticizer, solvent, pesticide raw material, dewaxing agent, analytical chemical reagent, and can also be used in the rubber industry.
