Introduction

1,1,3-Trimethyl-3-phenylindane has a cyclic indane structure, good thermal stability, anti-aging properties, etc. It can be used as a plastic processing aid, flavor filler, plasticizer, flammable agent, lubricant and light and heat stabilizer.

Physical and chemical properties

Application 

α-MS cyclodimer has good compatibility with many polymer materials because the methyl group in its molecular structure induces dipoles in the benzene ring; and because it forms an indane ring structure, it is not easy to degrade, and has good thermal stability and antioxidant properties, so it can be used in special occasions.

Main applications:

1. Lubricant
It can be used as a lubricant because of its good thermal stability, anti-aging, and fluidity; and because of its radiation resistance, it can withstand a wide range of temperature changes and is used as lubricating oil for jet aircraft internal combustion engines and rockets. For example, when the Mach number of a jet aircraft is higher than 2, the temperature of the ram air rises, and a special lubricant with high temperature resistance and long-lasting and stable properties is required; it can also be used as a lubricant additive and anti-radiation material.

2. Shockproof agent
It can be used as an anti-shock agent for aviation fuel and an anti-shock agent for special rubber.

3. Heat transfer medium

α-MS cyclodimer has good heat resistance and stable chemical properties, and can be used as a heat transfer medium; and it has the ability to resist antigen radiation, so it can be used in nuclear power plants; α-MS cyclodimer can be used in rockets for many years without deterioration.

4. Plasticizers and processing aids
It can be used in plastics and rubbers, such as PVC, PP, PE (HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE), etc.
