At 20 °C, it is highly soluble in water (up to 1,250 g/L) and readily soluble in polar solvents such as ethanol. Industrially, it is prepared using the formic acid method, the dicyanohydride method, or by heating aminobutyric acid with formic acid or formamide.
Applications:
1,2,4-Triazole is an important intermediate in triazole-based pesticides. It is used in the synthesis of pharmaceutical products such as the fungicides tebuconazole and tebuconazole, as well as the antifungal drug fluconazole. It also serves as a raw material for dyes, rubber additives, and photoconductors. In the field of biochemistry, it is used as a reagent in the preparation of microbial culture media and in protein research.
