It has zero atmospheric ozone depletion value, a very short atmospheric residence time, a low greenhouse effect value, is non-flammable, has low toxicity, good solubility, low surface tension, low viscosity, low wettability, good compatibility with metals and plastics, does not produce smoke, and has good insulation properties. It is widely used in manufacturers of liquid crystal displays, high-end printed circuit boards, automotive carburetors, precision electronic instrument components, etc.
It is mainly used as a cleaning agent for electronics, computers and metal parts, a solvent for surface rinsing and vapor drying. It is also used as other solvents and heat transfer agents.
