Introduction
Due to its special structure, the vinyl group in the molecular structure of polyvinyl imidazole is directly connected to the nitrogen atom of the imidazole ring. Unlike acrylamide, the vinyl group and the carbonyl group are not conjugated. These characteristics make it very useful in ionic liquids, separation and medicine. In the field of catalysis, homopolymers, random copolymers and polymer interpenetrating networks of vinyl imidazole synthesized by various methods can be used as water-soluble catalysts. These polymers have very important applications in fuel cells, metal ion separation membranes, gene delivery vectors, ionic liquids and catalysts.
