Introduction

1,6-Hexanediol, also known as hexanediol or 1,6-dihydroxyhexane, CAS number 629-11-8, is a white needle-shaped crystal that is easily soluble in water, methanol, butanol, and butyl acetate. This substance needs to be sealed and stored in a cool and dry place.

It can be prepared by pressure hydrogenation reduction of diethyl adipate under the action of a copper chromite catalyst. 1,6-Hexanediol is mainly used in the production of polyurethane, unsaturated polyester, plasticizers, and UV coatings, which can improve the water resistance and mechanical strength of materials.
