Introduction

1,3-Dimethyl-2-imidazolinone (DMI CAS: 80-73-9) is a colorless, transparent, low-viscosity liquid with the characteristic odor of aliphatic amines.

As a non-proton, strongly polar solvent, 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolinone possesses unique physical and chemical properties and is widely used in pharmaceuticals, refining, dyes/pigments, microelectronics, engineering plastics, cleaning, and surface treatment.

Application:

1. Reaction solvent: Due to its excellent thermal and chemical stability, DMI possesses the ability to dissolve inorganic and organic compounds and various resins. Furthermore, its catalytic effect as a non-proton-transferring polar solvent makes it a particularly effective reaction solvent. Using DMI can improve yields and effectively control side reactions while shortening reaction time.

2. Detergent: Adding DMI to a mixture of surfactants, alkalis, alcohols, and polyoxyethylene alkyl ethers produces a powerful detergent. Because DMI readily dissolves dirt, it can also be used to formulate an efficient cleaning solution for cleaning glass and metals.

3. Dyes and Pigments Inks made by mixing DMI with dyes and pigments can produce inks with high contrast and clear images.
