Introduction
18-Crown-6 is a typical crown ether, usually a white or nearly white crystalline solid. It has good solubility in organic solvents and is partially soluble in water. It has strong complexing ability, especially for larger cations (such as K⁺). It can stabilize the existence of these ions by forming coordination bonds with metal ions through multiple oxygen atoms in the molecule. In general, it is mainly used in complexation and phase transfer catalysis.
Application
●Curing accelerator for cyanoacrylate (502) adhesives, phase transfer catalyst in organic synthetic chemistry.
●Complexing agent, extractant for separation and extraction of precious metals and rare earth elements, ion conductive material for the electronics industry, and material for making liquid crystal display elements.
