Introduction and Application
As the only product with an aromatic ring structure among bio-based platform compounds, HMF has an aldehyde group and a hydroxymethyl group at the 2nd and 5th positions of its furan ring, respectively, and has high reactivity. Through oxidation, hydrogenation, esterification, halogenation, polymerization, hydrolysis and other chemical reactions, it can be used to synthesize hundreds of high value-added products such as 2,5-furandicarboxaldehyde (DFF), 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), 2,5-furan dimethanol (FDM), etc., with huge market potential.
