Introduction
Benzyltrimethylammonium chloride is a white crystalline powder at room temperature and pressure, and has strong hygroscopicity. It is easily soluble in water, ethanol, hot benzene and butanol, slightly soluble in dibutyl phthalate and tributyl phosphate, and insoluble in ether.
Benzyltrimethylammonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt compound used for the determination of platinum, palladium, mercury and gold. It is often used as a phase transfer catalyst in chemical synthesis and can be used to catalyze heterogeneous organic transformation reactions.
Benzyltrimethylammonium chloride can also be used as a cellulose solvent and inhibitor, and has certain applications in the production of fine chemicals.
