Butylated hydroxytoluene is an organic compound with the chemical formula C₁₅H₂₄O. It appears as a white crystalline solid or crystalline powder and possesses antioxidant and preservative properties. It is characterized by low toxicity, non-flammability, and non-corrosiveness, as well as excellent storage stability; it functions by inhibiting or retarding the oxidative degradation of plastics or rubber, thereby extending their service life. It is widely utilized in various cosmetic products.

Universal Phenolic Antioxidant

Butyl hydroxytoluene is widely used in polymer materials, petroleum products, and food processing industries. This product is a commonly used rubber anti-aging agent. It has a certain protective effect against heat and oxygen aging, and can also inhibit copper damage. When used alone, it does not have ozone resistance, but when combined with ozone inhibitors and wax, it can protect the vulcanized rubber from various weather factors. It can also be used as a gelling inhibitor in styrene butadiene rubber. This product can also be used as a stabilizer for the processing and storage of synthetic rubber, and can be applied to rubber types such as styrene butadiene rubber, butadiene rubber, ethylene propylene rubber, chloroprene rubber, etc.

BHT is a widely used oil soluble antioxidant both domestically and internationally.
