Introduction
Dipentaerythritol (CAS 126-58-9) is a polyol, a white crystalline solid. It exhibits high thermal stability and is readily soluble in water and common organic solvents such as methanol, acetone, and ethanol.
As an important fine chemical intermediate, dipentaerythritol is considered a mid-to-high-end product in the pentaerythritol industry. It is mainly used in the production of environmentally friendly UV-curable coatings, high-grade alkyd resins, high-grade aviation lubricants, plasticizers, polyethers, polyesters, polyurethanes, and photosensitive resin films. In photosensitive coatings, dipentaerythritol acrylates can be used as a coating for stainless steel color plates and high-grade granite spray films, exhibiting strong adhesion, abrasion resistance, and excellent aging resistance.
Dipentaerythritol can also be used as a plasticizer to improve the flexibility of plastics such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Ultrafine dipentaerythritol is mainly used in the production of fire-retardant coatings and PVC stabilizers.
