2-(Methacryloyloxy)ethyl acetoacetate is a methylene active compound. It can be used as a polymerizable chelating agent and polymerization monomer for metal alkoxides.

Application
2-(Methacryloyloxy)ethyl acetoacetate can be used to synthesize high solid liquid acrylic resins and low VOC acrylic emulsions for industrial and architectural coatings. It can also be used for crosslinking with metal ions and for the production of acetoacetate polymers for colorfast fibers (azo dyes). AAEM can be easily polymerized with acrylic and methacrylic monomers.
