Introduction

Di-2-ethylhexyl sebacate (DOS) is a colorless or light yellow transparent oily liquid, with a freezing point of -48°C, a boiling point of 256°C (0.67Kpa), a flash point of 257-263°C, a viscosity of 25mPa.s (20°C), a refractive index of 1.449-1.451 (25°C), and is soluble in organic solvents such as hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, esters, and chlorinated hydrocarbons, but insoluble in glycols and water. The solubility of water in this product is 0.15% (20°C).

Application

This product is an excellent cold-resistant plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, with high plasticizing efficiency and low volatility. Therefore, in addition to excellent low-temperature cold resistance, it also has good heat resistance and can be used at higher temperatures. This product has good weather resistance and excellent electrical insulation performance. It is often used in combination with phthalates and is particularly suitable for cold-resistant wires and cables, artificial leather, films, plates, sheets and other products. This product is non-toxic and can be used as food packaging materials. In addition to polyvinyl chloride products, it can also be used as a low-temperature plasticizer for a variety of synthetic rubbers and a cold-resistant plasticizer for resins such as nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, polymethyl methacrylate, polystyrene, and vinyl chloride copolymers. It is used as a lubricant for jet engines.
