This substance belongs to the diphenylethylene-biphenyl class of synthetic fluorescent brighteners. It is primarily used to enhance the whiteness and vibrancy of thermoplastic materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), and ABS. It is particularly suitable for synthetic leather products, as it does not yellow or fade even after long-term storage.
