Introduction
L-Erythrulose is a water-soluble, highly purified sunless tanning product fermented by non-pathogenic bacteria. It reacts with the free amino groups of keratin in the stratum corneum of the epidermis to achieve a coloring effect, similar to the Medela reaction. This mechanism is similar to the kinetics of natural sun tanning, while avoiding the sun and protecting delicate skin from UV damage. It reacts slowly and gently with the skin's coloring, so the tanning effect is natural, long-lasting, and streak-free. It is synergistic in combination with dihydroxyacetone. Therefore, Tanbest® DHB offers formulators greater flexibility and applicability in tanning products and hair dyes.
