Introduction
Monomethyl glutarate, also known as monomethyl hydrogen glutarate or glutaric acid monomethyl ester, has a molecular weight of 146.141. At room temperature, it is a colourless, transparent liquid (transparent to colourless to very pale yellow at 20°C) with a density of 1.169 g/cm³, boiling point of 158°C (at 3.6 kPa pressure), flash point of 110°C, and vapour pressure of 0.0 ± 1.2 mmHg at 25°C. It must be stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry place, away from incompatible materials such as oxidising agents, strong acids, and strong bases.
