Introduction 

PVP/VA, also known as Copovidone, is a synthetic water-soluble polymer that is widely used in pharmaceutical preparations due to its excellent adhesion, film-forming and solubility properties.

Application:

It has strong plasticity and can give tablets good hardness. It is an excellent dry adhesive for direct tableting process;
It is suitable for drugs with poor compressibility, improves drug compressibility, and meets the requirements of direct compression process;
It is an excellent adhesive for preparing effervescent tablets and dispersible tablets;
It is used in combination with HPMC/HPC/PVA, etc. to effectively improve the film elasticity and adhesion to the tablet core, improve the gloss of the coating film, reduce the viscosity of HPMC, improve the plasticity of the cellulose film, reduce the film brittleness, and reduce the amount of plasticizer.
It is suitable for base coating of the isolation layer of plain tablets, formulation of taste-masking preparations, and pore-forming agent for sustained-release coating films;
It has good plasticity and is suitable for preparing drug solid dispersions by hot melt extrusion;
It can form a polymer complex with drug molecules in water through hydrogen bonds, and is used as a skeleton material for gastric retention tablets, with good retention performance, prolonged drug release time, improved drug absorption, and improved bioavailability.
