Product Details
Introduction
Perfluorohexyloctane is a semifluorinated alkane containing six perfluorinated carbon atoms and eight hydrogenated carbon atoms.
It forms a monolayer at the air-liquid interface of the tear film, which is expected to reduce evaporation and can be used to treat dry eye.
Application
Perfluorohexyloctane has a long history of use in ophthalmic surgery, and in recent years it has been introduced into ophthalmic therapy as a novel drug carrier in the form of eye drops.
In addition, perfluorohexyloctane has received attention in clinical trials to study its effectiveness for topical skin treatment.
