Introduction and Application
Physical and Chemical Properties:
Colorless monoclinic crystals or white crystals with a pearly luster. Deliquescent and easily soluble in water, with a neutral water solubility.
Decomposes rapidly when heated above 200°C, releasing toxic phosphine, which is pyrophoric.
Sodium hypophosphite is primarily used as a reducing agent in electroless nickel plating. It combines with nickel to form a chelate and control the pH, effectively improving the surface properties and finish of nickel-plated products.
It is widely used in industries such as electronics, machinery, petroleum, chemicals, aviation, shipping, food, pharmaceuticals, and as an additive for polycarboxylate water reducers.
