Introduction
Triisopropylsilyl chloride (CAS 13154-24-0) is a commonly used steric hydroxyl-protecting agent. In organic synthesis, it is frequently used to selectively protect hydroxyl groups in alcohols. The resulting TIPS ether is highly stable and exhibits excellent resistance to acids, bases, and various reagents but can be removed using fluoride ions.
