Tris(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate is also known as trioctyl phosphate.
Trioctyl phosphate is one of the more practical flame retardant and cold-resistant plasticizers, used in vinyl resins, cellulose resins, phenolic resins, polyurethanes, synthetic rubbers, solvents, defoamers, etc. Trioctyl phosphate has better low-temperature performance than adipic acid esters and has mildew resistance and flame retardant effects. Although its thermal stability and plasticizing properties are slightly poor, they can be improved when used in combination with tricresyl phosphate;
Trioctyl phosphate and DOP can be used in combination to obtain self-extinguishing products, and can also be used in polyvinyl chloride cable materials, coatings, etc.
Trioctyl phosphate can also be used as a solvent and pesticide intermediate in the production of hydrogen peroxide.
