Product Details
Introduction
Benzethonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium surfactant and a cationic antimicrobial preservative. At room temperature, it exists as flake-like crystals with a melting point of 162–166°C. It is highly soluble in water, ethanol, acetone, and chloroform. A 1% aqueous solution has a pH of 4.8–5.5, and the aqueous solution can withstand high-temperature sterilisation. Benzethonium chloride combines surfactant properties with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and is widely used in the personal care and pharmaceutical industries. It is added to cosmetics such as creams and lotions as a preservative and bactericide. It can kill various microorganisms and has bactericidal and deodorising effects.
Application
Benzethonium chloride is used in products such as wet wipes, nappies, sanitary napkins, hand sanitisers, soaps, baby care products, and women's hygiene products. Benzethonium chloride can also be used as a wetting agent, solubilizer, and topical disinfectant.
