Introduction

Sodium heparin is a low-molecular-weight heparin and appears as a white or off-white powder. It is virtually odourless and tasteless and is hygroscopic. It is soluble in water and saline solution, but insoluble in ethanol, acetone, benzene, chloroform, and ether. A 1% aqueous solution has a pH of 6.0–7.5.
