Introduction

2,5-Bis(octyldithio)-1,3,4-thiadiazole, also known as metal deactivator TH561, has excellent extreme pressure anti-wear, anti-oxidation and anti-corrosion abilities and the ability to reduce metal activity. It has better antioxidant properties than the traditional thiadiazole derivative T561. The modified thiadiazole derivative TH561 has good oil solubility and forms a complete protective film on the copper surface, which has a good corrosion inhibition effect on copper.

Applications

2,5-Bis(octyldithio)-1,3,4-thiadiazole is an ashless liquid metal deactivation, anti-oxidation and anti-wear additive widely used in bearing preservatives, anti-wear hydraulic oils, industrial gear oils, extreme pressure agents and oxidation inhibitors and other industrial oils. It is used in the formulation of internal combustion engine oils to increase the oxidation induction period of oil products, which is an important way to solve the problem of poor antioxidant properties of low-sulphur and high-nitrogen oil products in China. It is characterised by low dosage and high performance. It is used in oil products to form a protective film on the surface of non-ferrous metals, which is very effective in preventing the corrosion of metals caused by active sulphur in additives and acidic substances produced by oxidation. At the same time, it also inhibits the catalytic oxidation of metals and metal ions on oil products, making them lose their activity.
