Tri(propylene glycol) butyl ether (TGBE) belongs to the propylene glycol butyl ether family. Its low toxicity and pleasant odor make it a promising environmentally friendly solvent. It has a wide range of applications in coatings, cleaning agents, inks, and leather. It can be used as a coupling agent in dye dissolution, replacing alcoholic solvents. Furthermore, PGBE is also used as a film-forming aid in water-based coatings, photosensitive adhesives, PS plate cleaning, printing, electronic chemicals, jet fuel additives (waterproofing agents), extractants, and high-boiling-point solvents.
