Introduction and Application

2,2,6,6-Tetramethyl-4-piperidinol (CAS 2403-88-5) is an organic compound that appears as white crystals at room temperature. It is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, ethanol, and chloroform; slightly soluble in water; and hygroscopic. Its melting point is 127–132°C and boiling point 212–215°C. It is primarily used in the synthesis of hindered amine light stabilisers and serves as a key intermediate in the production of stabilisers for polymeric materials. It also plays a specific role in the pharmaceutical industry. It must be stored in a sealed, dry, light-protected, and cool environment to prevent moisture absorption and deterioration. It is classified as an irritant chemical; contact may cause skin, eye, or respiratory tract irritation.

Tetramethylpiperidinol is an intermediate of hindered amine light stabiliser, an important pharmaceutical intermediate and an inhibitor intermediate. It can also be directly used in resin to prevent aging.
