Introduction
2,6-Di-tert-butylphenol is a white or pale yellow crystalline solid with a phenolic odour. It is readily soluble in alcohols, esters, alkanes, aromatic hydrocarbons, and other organic solvents; it is practically insoluble in water. It is primarily used in the manufacture of antioxidants for natural and synthetic rubber, plastic antioxidants, fuel stabilisers, UV absorbers, and intermediates for pesticides and dyes. Major grades include antioxidants 1010, 1076, 702, 3114, 4426, Methyl-4426-S, 2002, 330, 1098, and 1088.
2,6-Di-tert-butylphenol is mainly used in the manufacture of natural rubber and synthetic rubber antioxidants, plastic antioxidants, fuel stabilizers, ultraviolet absorbers, pesticides, dye intermediates, etc.
