Introduction

3-[Dimethoxy(methyl)silyl]propyl 2-acrylate (CAS 13732-00-8), also known as 3-(acryloxypropyl)methyl dimethoxymethylsilyl, is a bifunctional organosilane. It possesses reactive acrylate and dimethoxymethylsilane groups, making it highly effective as a coupling agent, crosslinking agent, or surface modifier in coatings, adhesives, and sealants.

Specification 

Solubility: Soluble in aromatic and most aliphatic solvents such as alcohols and ketones; slightly soluble in water, but will hydrolyse. The hydrolysate is unstable, and it is easy to polymerize under overheating, light, and the presence of peroxides

Application

1. Used in unsaturated polyester composite materials: it can improve the mechanical properties, electrical properties, and light transmittance of composite materials, especially it can greatly improve the wet properties of composite materials;

2. Use (containing this coupling agent) to treat glass fiber to improve the mechanical strength and electrical properties of glass fibre-reinforced composite materials in wet state;

3. Used in wire and cable industry: use this coupling agent to treat clay-filled peroxide cross-linked EPDM system to improve the consumption factor and specific inductance and capacitance.

4. Copolymerized with vinyl acetate and acrylic acid or methacrylic acid monomers, these polymers are widely used in coatings, adhesives and sealants, providing excellent adhesion and durability;

5. Acryloxysilane is more active than methacryloxysilane, which can better improve mechanical and electrical properties;

6. This product can be simultaneously involved in a light curing reaction, peroxide vulcanisation reaction, hydrosilylation reaction, thiol-click reaction and moisture cross-linking reaction.
