4-Fluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride, also known as p-fluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride, is a white to light brown crystalline solid powder at room temperature. It is slightly soluble in water (0.1 g/mL) and soluble in alcohols, ethers, and other organic solvents. It is sensitive to moisture but stable at room temperature. It is non-flammable; however, high temperatures can cause decomposition, producing toxic gases such as hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride. 4-Fluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride is irritating to the eyes, skin, and mucous membranes and can cause burns.
