Introduction
Basic copper carbonate is a substance formed when copper reacts with oxygen, carbon dioxide, water vapour, and other substances in the air. It is a fine, amorphous powder of peacock green colour that is insoluble in water and alcohol but soluble in acids, ammonia water, and potassium cyanide solutions. When heated in air, it decomposes into copper oxide, water, and carbon dioxide; it dissolves in acids to form the corresponding copper salts.

Applications:
High-purity basic copper carbonate has a low impurity content and can be used as an additive for copper ions in the surface electroplating process of materials. It can also be directly used in the electroplating of high-end electronic components and the preparation of analytical reagents.

It is used in animal feed as a copper additive, as a dealkalising agent during crude oil storage, and as a raw material for the production of copper compounds. It can also be used in electroplating, preservation, and as an analytical reagent. |
