Product Details
Introduction
Stearyl methylacrylate is a long-chain polymerizable acrylate monomer with good water resistance and lipophilicity.
At room temperature, stearyl methacrylate is a pale yellow, transparent liquid or a white, waxy solid with a density of 0.9 ± 0.1 g/cm³, a melting point of 18–20 °C, a boiling point of 414.3 ± 14.0 °C, and a flash point of 185.0 ± 8.4 °C. It is insoluble in water and has a hydrophobic, long aliphatic main chain.
Stearyl methyl acrylate has an ester content of ≥98%, an acid value of ≤0.5 mg KOH/g, a moisture content of ≤0.2%, and a polymerization inhibitor content of <200 ppm. Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place away from light; avoid contact with oxidizing agents; there is a risk of thermal polymerization. It is prepared by reacting stearyl alcohol with methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate, or methacryloyl chloride. It is primarily used as a monomer in polymer synthesis and is applied in the fields of inks, coatings, adhesives, textile dyeing and finishing auxiliaries, leather auxiliaries, and lubricant additives.
