Introduction:

Cumene is an organic compound that is a colourless liquid. It is insoluble in water but soluble in most organic solvents, including ethanol, diethyl ether, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, and acetone. It is primarily used as a solvent but can also be used in organic synthesis.

Cumene is mainly used in the production of phenol, acetone, and α-methylstyrene and as a raw material for peroxides and oxidation accelerators.
