Introduction to EDTA 4Na CAS 194491-31-1
EDTA is an inhibitor of metalloproteinases, effective at concentrations of 1-10 mM. EDTA acts as a chelator for the zinc ions in the active center of metalloproteinases and can also inhibit other metal-dependent proteases, such as calcium-dependent cysteine proteases. When used as an anticoagulant, the disodium or tripotassium salts of EDTA are usually used. The optimal concentration is 1.5 mg per mL of blood.
