Introduction to Gadolinium Oxide
Gadolinium oxide, with the chemical formula Gd₂O₃ and CAS number 12064-62-9, has a molecular weight of 362.50 and appears as a white powder (color changes with purity). At 25°C, it has a density of 7.407 g/cm³, a melting point of 2330 ± 20°C, and a boiling point of 3900°C. It is insoluble in water and alkaline solutions, soluble in inorganic acids (except HF and H₃PO₄), and easily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide to form alkaline carbonates when exposed to air.
