What Is UV Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive?
2026-06-18
UV-curable acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives are a new class of solvent-free pressure-sensitive adhesives. They exist as viscous liquids at high temperatures; when applied to a substrate, they cure upon exposure to ultraviolet light to form pressure-sensitive adhesive products with practical performance characteristics. They are environmentally friendly, cure rapidly, reduce energy consumption, and exhibit superior physical properties compared to other types of pressure-sensitive adhesives. The design principles for the monomers used to prepare UV-curable pressure-sensitive adhesives are similar to those for traditional pressure-sensitive adhesives. The key difference is that UV pressure-sensitive adhesives are applied first and then polymerized; therefore, the monomers used generally have a higher boiling point.
