What is Poly Allylamine Hydrochloride?

2026-07-28

Poly(allylamine hydrochloride) is a water-soluble polymer with CAS 71550-12-4. In its solid state, it appears white to pale yellow; in its liquid state, it is pale yellow. Its pH ranges from 2–3 and 4–7, and its molecular weight ranges from 1,000 to 600,000. It is highly soluble in water. Poly(allylamine hydrochloride) is available in various concentrations, including 20% and 40%. It should be stored in a cool, dry place away from oxidising agents and strong bases. It is primarily used for dye fixation in textiles, as a lubricant in metal surface treatment, to enhance colour and prevent fading in inks, in the preparation of cleaning agents for electronic materials, and in the production of pharmaceutical intermediates.
