Sodium methacrylate, as a dispersant, can also be used as an auxiliary material in coatings. Sodium methacrylate is polymerized to form sodium polyacrylate, a type of polyanionic polymer dielectric. Sodium polyacrylate is a recently developed and important chemical product with a wide range of applications.
Sodium polyacrylates come in two main types: water-soluble and water-swellable. Water-swellable sodium polyacrylates fall under the category of highly absorbent resins. Water-soluble sodium polyacrylates, however, have varying properties due to their varying molecular weights and are widely used in food, feed, textiles, papermaking, water treatment, petrochemicals, agriculture, forestry, horticulture, and health.
