Introduction of C9 Thermally Polymerized Petroleum Resin
C9 Thermally Polymerized Petroleum Resin is produced by thermal polymerization of cracked C9 raw materials. It is a yellow or brown granular solid with good thermal stability, compatibility, water resistance, acid and alkali resistance.
C9 Thermally Polymerized Petroleum Resin is mainly used as an additive in paint, rubber, special adhesives, ink, printing and other industries.

What are the different types of C9 petroleum resins?
Petroleum resin C9, also known as aromatic petroleum resin, is classified into thermally polymerized, cold-polymerized, and tar-based types.
Frequently Asked Questions
| Question | Answer |
| What is C9 Thermally Polymerized Petroleum Resin ? | C9 thermo polymerized petroleum resin is a low molecular weight, thermoplastic aromatic resin produced by high- temperature thermopolymerization of petroleum-derived C9 fraction. It appears as yellow to light brown flakes or granules and is widely used in paints, adhesives, rubber formulations, and road markings due to its good solubility, adhesive strength, water resistance, and chemical stability. |
| What are the main uses of C9 petroleum resin? | C9 petroleum resin is a versatile aromatic thermoplastic hydrocarbon resin used primarily as a tackifier, binder, and modifier in adhesives, coatings, rubber, and printing inks. |
| What is C5 and C9 resin? | C5 resin is aliphatic, offering high tack and compatibility with rubber, while C9 is aromatic, providing superior gloss and chemical/thermal resistance. |
| How is C9 petroleum resin produced? | C9 resin petroleum is an aromatic hydrocarbon produced through polymerization and is a byproduct of naphtha cracking. |
| Is C9 resin dangerous? | C9 petroleum hydrocarbon resins are generally considered non-toxic, with low hazard in their solid form, making them safe for industrial applications such as adhesives and coatings. However, they can pose a risk when heated, as they may release irritating vapors. These vapors can cause skin/eye irritation, and inhaling the fumes from the hot material is dangerous. |
Package: 25kg/bag. It should be stored indoors, and protected from fire, sunlight and rain. The ambient temperature should not exceed 35°C, and the relative humidity should not exceed 85%.
