Dimethyl isophthalic acid is obtained by esterification reflux reaction of isophthalic acid and methanol catalyzed by sulfuric acid, and is treated by neutralization, filtration, drying and other processes. This substance is mainly used for the synthesis of PBT heat-resistant polymer monomers and diphenyl isophthalate, as a raw material for the synthesis of gas chromatography stationary liquids and food contact materials (PET/PBT).

Dimethyl isophthalate can be used to improve the transparency, flexibility and strength of polyester. It improves the strength, transparency, flexibility, good solubility and plasticizing properties of polyester.
