Introduction
Tetrapropoxysilane is a colorless, transparent liquid with a boiling point of 224–225°C (760 mmHg), a viscosity of 1.7 cPs at 20°C, a density of 0.916 g/cm³ (25°C), a flash point of 95°C, a melting point of <−80°C, and a vapor pressure of 0.137 mmHg at 25°C. Its refractive index (20°C) is 1.4012 ± 0.0020, with a purity of ≥97.0% (physical and chemical properties) or ≥98.0% (quality specifications). It is primarily used as an organosilicon coupling agent and crosslinking agent in the fields of paints, coatings, silicone rubber, and inorganic material treatment.
Tetrapropoxysilane must be stored in a sealed container filled with an inert gas, kept in a cool, dry place, and protected from moisture, water, and oxidizing agents.
