Introduction
Alkyl methacrylate is a colourless to pale yellow transparent liquid at room temperature, with a density of 0.88 g/cm³ (25°C), a flash point exceeding 230°F (approximately 110°C), and a refractive index of 1.45 (20°C). This substance may undergo polymerisation when exposed to heat or light; therefore, it must be stored in a tightly sealed container in a cool, dark place, away from oxidising agents. When handling this substance, wear protective gloves and safety goggles, and work in a well-ventilated area. In the event of a spill, recover the substance using an inert absorbent material to prevent contamination.
Alkyl methacrylate is a polymerizable functional monomer, mainly used in paper coating agents, paints, lubricant additives, fiber treatment agents, adhesives, etc.
