Diethyl phthalate is a chemical substance that appears as a colorless to pale yellow, clear, oily liquid; it is highly soluble in ethanol and diethyl ether, soluble in acetone, benzene, and carbon tetrachloride, and practically insoluble in water.
Diethyl phthalate is used as a plasticizer, solvent, lubricant, fixative, frothing agent for the flotation of colored or rare metal ores, gas chromatography stationary phase, alcohol denaturant, and aerosol insecticide. Store in a cool, well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from sources of ignition and heat. Store separately from oxidizers and acids; do not store together. Provide appropriate types and quantities of firefighting equipment. The storage area should be equipped with emergency spill response equipment and suitable containment materials.
It is compatible with cellulose acetate, nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, polyvinyl acetate, polystyrene, and plexiglass. It has good film-forming properties, adhesion, and water resistance. This product is used with DMP plasticizer in cellulose acetate to help improve the elasticity and water resistance of the product. This product is non-toxic and can be used as a plasticizer for non-toxic adhesives in food packaging films. In cosmetics, it is used as a nail polish plasticizer.
