Introduction
Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) is an excellent aminocarboxylic acid complexing agent with a strong chelating property. It is a white crystal, soluble in hot water and alkali solution, slightly soluble in water, with a solubility in water (20°C) of 5 g/l, and insoluble in organic solvents such as alcohol and ether. The melting point is 230°C (decomposition).

Applications
DTPA can quickly form water-soluble complexes with calcium, magnesium, iron, lead, copper, and manganese ions, especially with high-valent colour-forming metals. It is widely used in hydrogen peroxide bleaching stabilisers, water softeners, textile printing and dyeing industry auxiliaries, food additives, pharmaceutical stabilisers, and complexing agents in the photosensitive industry.
