Introduction
Sodium mercaptobenzothiazole is a compound with a molecular weight of 189.22 and molecular formula C₇H₄NNAS₂, with a density of 1.25, a melting point of -6°C, and a boiling point of 103°C. Its water solubility is greater than or equal to 10 g/100 mL at 20°C. It is slightly harmful to water; do not allow undiluted or large quantities of the product to come into contact with groundwater, waterways, or sewage systems. It is used as a co-accelerator for dithiocarbamate curing agents in natural rubber; solutions prepared with water or alcohols can serve as corrosion inhibitors for steel, copper, and aluminium products.
Applications
Sodium Mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT·Na) can be used as a copper corrosion inhibitor in circulating cooling water systems. The corrosion inhibition of copper corrosion inhibitor MBT·Na mainly relies on chemical adsorption with active copper atoms or copper ions on the surface of metal copper; or chelation occurs to form a dense and firm protective film so that copper equipment is well protected. The usage is generally 4mg/L. Copper corrosion inhibitor MBT·Na can also be used as a plasticizer, acid copper plating brightness agent, etc.
